Second Cultural Lesson: How I became a Millionaire! ... and not on TV

The currency here in Vietnam is called 'dong' (yes, similar spelling to the second word in the phrase 'ding-dong'). The exchange rate is about 18,000 dong per dollar; so, for meals they gave us about 2,200,000 dong. Hence, we all feel like millionaires carrying a lot of money around.

The money is also very colorful and the higher denominations have a clear 'window' of plastic. A typical meal from the street vendors is about 20,000 dong or a little over a dollar per meal (which is great for us to eat for so little).

Below are some pictures of the money and you can see they all really like this one person (because he appears on all the bills).
